Alzheimer’s Association and National Association of Seadogs Partner for ‘Walk to End Alzheimer’s’ to Fight for a Cure

SAN RAMON, CA – October 17, 2026

In a powerful display of community solidarity and a shared commitment to a future without Alzheimer’s Disease, the Alzheimer’s Association, in partnership with the National Association of Seadogs (Pyrates Confraternity), participated in the Walk to End Alzheimer’s on Saturday, October 17, 2026 at San Ramon, California.

Held under the theme “Together We Can Make a Difference”, the Walk to End Alzheimer’s brought participants together for a morning of remembrance, hope and community action. The event included a symbolic ceremony honouring people affected by Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia and provided participants with an opportunity to demonstrate their support for affected families and the broader fight against dementia.

The collaboration brought together members of the National Association of Seadogs, the Alzheimer’s Association, and other community organisations to raise critical funds and awareness for Alzheimer’s care, support, and research. Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia affect millions of individuals and families worldwide, creating a profound need for greater awareness, support, and research.

According to Dr Roy Chikwem, NAS Area Mate 03, which has responsibility for Decks across Australia, New Zealand, China, Japan, the Pacific Islands and California, USA: “This event provided an opportunity for us to honour those living with Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia, remember those we have lost, support their families and carers, and stand together in the fight for a cure. The Walk to End Alzheimer’s reflects the power of community action and our shared responsibility to support those affected by this devastating disease.”

Dr Ebifade Imarayi, Capoon of Aftashok Deck, said: “We are honoured to partner with the Alzheimer’s Association for this year’s Walk to End Alzheimer’s. Our participation reflects the National Association of Seadogs’ commitment to humanitarian causes and to supporting initiatives that improve the lives of individuals, families and communities.”

Dr Ikechi Bright Gbenimacho, Capoon of Hiroshima Deck, added: “This collaboration is a testament to what can be achieved when communities come together around a common cause. Every step we take brings us closer to a future where Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia no longer have such a devastating impact on families.”

Mr Oyin-Obi Amoni-Stone, Capoon of 8Quake Deck, said: “The Walk to End Alzheimer’s is more than a fundraising event. It is an opportunity to raise awareness, show solidarity with people living with dementia, remember loved ones we have lost, and demonstrate that communities can make a meaningful difference when they work together.”

The National Association of Seadogs (Pyrates Confraternity), known for its commitment to social justice, humanitarian service and community development, joined the cause as part of its continuing commitment to initiatives that improve the wellbeing of individuals and communities. Dr Chikwem said: “The fight against Alzheimer’s requires collective action. Our members are passionate about making a tangible difference, and we are proud to stand alongside the Alzheimer’s Association, families, carers, researchers and the wider community in supporting people affected by Alzheimer’s and advancing the search for effective treatments and, ultimately, a cure.”

Through its participation, the National Association of Seadogs reaffirmed its commitment to humanitarian service and to supporting initiatives that promote awareness, compassion, research and community wellbeing.

Every dollar raised through the Walk to End Alzheimer’s supports the Alzheimer’s Association’s mission to lead the way to end Alzheimer’s and all other dementia by accelerating global research, driving risk reduction and early detection, and maximising quality care and support.

Together, communities can make a difference — one step at a time.
